WorkForce Central CEO to Chair National Task Force

Posted: Mar 01, 2012
WorkForce Central CEO Linda Nguyen was recently appointed Chair of the newly formed Veterans Task Force for The United States Conference of Mayors Workforce Development Council.

“I am honored to accept this position and eager to serve as a voice for veterans,” Nguyen said. “This appointment is testament to WorkForce Central’s position as the leader in Pierce County for employers and job seekers, and I’m hopeful my appointment will help us to better serve veterans and employers alike.”

The United States Conference of Mayors Workforce Development Council provides a forum for mayors and their representatives to examine all workforce development issues and to strengthen the ability of cities to meet the needs of their citizens. The Council is particularly concerned with economically disadvantaged individuals who have serious skill deficiencies, dislocated workers, and others with special barriers to employment, especially at-risk and out-of-school youth.

“We are thrilled to have Linda’s leadership on the Council’s Board and as Chair of the Veterans Task Force as we face these challenging economic times,” said Kathleen Amoroso Wiggins, Assistant Executive Director of The United States Conference of Mayors.  “Her progressive and steadfast leadership will make the WDC stronger as we focus on addressing the most pressing issues facing cities – jobs and the creation of opportunities for businesses to flourish.”
