Spiro Manthou serves as a City of Tacoma Councilman, representing District 3. He attended Western Washington University, where he studied business and education. Manthou was elected to the Tacoma City Council in 2003 and re-elected to a second term in 2007.  He has also served as the Deputy Mayor for Pierce County. Prior to being a Tacoma City Councilman, Manthou held an administrative position at Bates Technical College and has worked for the City of Tacoma’s Finance Department.

Manthou has served on many volunteer boards and commissions, including the Metro Parks Recreation Foundation. He is currently a part of the City’s Neighborhoods and Housing Committee, Economic Development Committee, Manager’s Performance Review Committee and Appointments Committee. He is also a board member on Pierce Transit and the Tacoma-Pierce County Joint Determining Authority Board, and is the City’s representative for the Asarco/Point Ruston Project.
