Pat McCarthy was elected as the Pierce County Executive in 2008. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington, Tacoma, Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program. She has served as the School Board Director for the Tacoma School District, an administrator and advisor for the Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences program at the UWT, the Deputy Auditor for Pierce County, and was recently elected to the position of Pierce County Executive.

McCarthy is currently a member of City Club, Tacoma South Rotary, District Democrats, Pierce County Democrats and Pierce County Women’s Political Caucus. She is also an American Leadership Forum Class XII Fellow. McCarthy has received many awards, including the Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award in 2005 from University of Washington, Tacoma, as well as the Secretary of the State’s Auditor of the Year Award in 2005.
