Workforce Central partners with Pierce County K-12 and post-secondary educational institutions to match their curriculum with the skills and training that graduates need for today's high-demand occupations.
A foundational tenant of these partnerships is to develop successful, long-term and strategic relationships based on achieving best practices with a sustainable, competitive advantage.
Successful partnerships include:
Introduction to Manufacturing - WorkForce Central partners with Clover Park Technical College and the Pierce County Skills Center to teach basic manufacturing and composite manufacturing skills for placement in entry-level positions at local aerospace manufacturing employers.
Manufacturing Academy - WorkForce Central partners with the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC) and Bates Technical College to offer this pre-apprenticeship program. Graduates of this program go on to apprenticeship programs, post-secondary education or entry level manufacturing occupations.
High School Student Retention Program - WorkForce Central partnered with Orting School District to provide services and transportation assistance to students who are close to graduation but still in danger of dropping out of high school.
